96k miles, and I estimate I towed my 4500-5000 lbs trailer about 9k this year alone. The front brake pads looked like they would soon be due for a change so I decided to get it out of the way, replacing them with Powerstop Z36 truck & tow. They had probably 20% left, but the rears were really amazing, probably 40-50% left. That Curt Echo is pulling its weight, haha.

If you have your trailer and trailer brakes set up correctly, there should be almost no appreciable additional wear to the tow vehicle brakes.
Off-roading is a lot harder on brakes than towing if you set up the trailer brake controller properly.
Towing 5,000 pounds I don't feel like the truck brakes are working much harder.
