Anyone running this setup? Good experience? Downsides? I'd like to run 38s and 17 inch wheels. Very much appreciate any real world experiences.

I am running the Falcon SP2 3.3 Fast adjust shocks with a Clayton 3.5" overland plus kit. Almost 30K miles, lots of off-road and rocks, and the shocks have been bulletproof. I really like them, best I have ever had. I got the 3.5"-4.5" spec'ed shocks and I recommend them for the Metalcloak lift because the rear shocks are nice and long, an extended length 32.30". Very impressive. That will give you additional rear articulation for your Gladiator. Here is the Falcon spec. chart.

I would be interested to hear anyone that has done this also. When I called Metalcloak, they said to not use Falcon shocks with their lifts. Said to use Fox.

Probably, you should follow the recommendations of Metalcloak. I would ask them, why?, and also I would ask them the longest shock length they recommend for their kit, both, front and back. It might have something to do with shock lengths.

Note: If you are going to do a lot of 4 wheeling and you are trying to get the most articulation, I would recommend the TERAFLEX REAR UPPER/LOWER COIL SPRING RETAINER KIT for the JT. It is cheap, around $60, easy to install, and much better than limit straps. This will clamp the rear coils, so, they do not unseat with max articulation and max shock lengths. I put it on my truck after the fact, and I really like it. It also takes pressure off the rear shocks, ie. the max coil length will hold the diff. from articulating too low, avoid the coils from becoming unseated, and bottoming out the shocks.

Just my two cents speculation but I believe it has to do with the front outboard lower shock mount included in the lift kit.

Falcon unlike most other shock makers uses a lower offset mount hole eyelet on their front shocks. When using the Metalcloak outboard shock mount kit on the front, it moves the mount outboard and up about 1.5". When installing the shock to this mount, it will move the upper shock body mount side forward. Falcon for their reservoir shocks have the reservoir hard mounted to the upper body and probably would hit the frame side of the upper shock mount area with the lower eyelet offset compounding things. A straight monotube shock or other shock makers that run a flexible line to their remote reservoir that is mounted separate, probably does not have this issue.

I have the Falcon SP2 2.1 monotube shocks and also installed the Metalcloak outboard shock mount kit and flipped the offset of the lower mount to make it fit, but it is whisker distance of the upper mount body of hitting the frame side when I exercised the suspension travel. I would imagine any Falcon shock with their piggyback reservoir setup and adjustable knob would hit.
