The weather finally turned for the better, so I felt it was time to give the hoist a try. The wife was at work, so I had to do this solo. Ran into a couple niggles, nothing that turned into a show stopper. For example, my driveway is enough of a slope that without setting the wheel brakes on one end, the hoist WILL try to roll down the drive and into the street. Which made me leery enough of trying to use it solo that on my first attempt, I rolled it back in the garage without using it.

A bit later, gave it a second try, got the top bolts off the Jeep, rolled the hoist under the Jeep, set the wheel brakes on the crank end, adjusted the rain gutter clamps and seated them, snugged them up so there was just a bit of pull and started cranking. The top came up like butter! No hollering at the wife to lift her side dang it, just crank the handle until both sides come clear of the bed cover. Unlock the wheels, angle the hoist a bit, roll it out some, re-angle to get the far side of the top clear of the roll bar, and we're topless!

Crank it down so it'll fit in the garage, set the brakes again, and we're ready to enjoy the nice weather!

As my garage, however, is JUST deep enough to get my Gladiator in and close the door, I am unable to turn the top 90 degrees and park so it's over the hood, instead I need to leave the top in the "hoist" position (so the back glass is facing one wall of my garage), hopefully this isn't something that could result in the hoist tipping towards the glass and causing me big problems (note also, I'm leaving the top lowered, both so it goes in and out of the garage, and this should lower the center of gravity of the whole thing, reducing the possibility of tipping over)

Overall? I am now a VERY happy camper, no more waiting for the wife or friend to come by to help get the top off!
