Hi teedee29, I'm in the exact same situation as you. Did you ever find a solution? I'm currently on marketplace looking for a used RCI rack and probably going to sell the fishbone.

Hey @CoolHandRyan I end up getting uptop straight up sidemount. I got the 3 pieces bracket. Other than expect it a raise the awning a little but not super high. I’m 5’8 and able to walk under the awning ok but I’d imagine 6 feet tall have to duck some. Overall I’m happy with it.

I also have the ironman 270 and fishbone half rack. I want my awning to be above the roof. The brackets are approx 4" to short. I have purchased a couple extra brackets and will be using them as "donor" brackets. Machining the upright straight at the 90 degree. I will be able to attach the bracket to the rack in an inverted configuration. And use the "donor" upright attached to the awning and bolted to the upright of the bracket connected to the fishbone. I will be machining these next week and will install the awning. I will post pictures when complete.

Here is my solution. I purchased some additional mounts and used them as a donor mount to raise the awning above the cab. I had them cut of and used the slotted piece to raise the awning. I also had to get some 3" high UHMW blocks and attached those to the rack and the mounts are attached in the inverted position. So far it looks like it will work well. We will see. I might decide to slide the awning back a few inches, this will than cover the complete tailgate and keep me out of the rain.

I also added an extension to make it a couple inches higher so id have some room to mount stuff on the side of the bed rack.

as for the up top version, it lists 3 sizes available. I wouldn’t know which one to get. And I don’t have the rack yet but I’m going with a full height version so awning height won’t be an issue.
