It's been a while since I did this.. but there is a square hole on the front of the connector. (right side of your picture) Use a flat blade screwdriver inside the square hole. press in (I think). If you shine a light down the hole, you can see the catch.

I did this a few weeks ago and if I remember correctly you are pressing the part on the left and the big square in the center stays with everything on the right.
I agree with this I did not need any tools when I did it.From what I recall, press here, then pull apart.
