So, I’ve been watching for Extreme Terrain to open up availability for the Smittybilt (79634) SRC Side Armor, because I had a hefty credit to burn with them and these are nearly everything that I wanted in terms of the following:
- a decent door ding forcefield / obstacle
- something that bolted to the frame instead of the tub‘s pinch weld (I‘ll note that my last truck (2018 Xlt Crew) had its rocker panel and doors greatly distorted when the modestly constructed and assembled stock rocker panel / underbody assembled running board were quickly dispatched in a fender bender. So, no guarantee, but real steel bolted to a real frame seems like a realer defense in the jungle (Brick or bush).)
- a sold step for my girlfriend‘s shorter legs
- at under a $600, price that seemed around half off other frame mounted sliders / steps options which may be worth it to some, but seemed to be unnecessary additional spend for my reasonable but limited trail ambitions.
I just got an email that mine shipped today, so I’ll follow up with a picture once I get time to mount.
