I have no knowledge of audio, electronic, etc. So I am coming here for help. I am adding (upgrading)a new amplifier and speakers to my Gladiator. However, I cannot find an aftermarket subwoofer to fit where the stock subwoofer is behind the backseat. The problem is that I am being told by the installer that the subwoofer that came with the Gladiator will not work with the new system, thus I have no choice but to replace it. Is this right?

Most upgrades are going to be under the seat as it's likely far easier to install or fabricate.

That being said there are custom boxes for behind the seat https://oemaudioplus.com/jeep/jt-se/

Not going to be cheap and at that point you might as well have a custom enclosure designed to match the sub(s) and amp.

In terms of reusing the oem sub, I'm sure it's technically possible though likely won't sound great if going with a different amp. If you're looking at just upgrading the doors/dash/soundbar speakers and run these from an aftermarket amp you'll need an adapter for that.
