I I know this is kinda off topic but....do yall think these temps are "okay" cause in my gasser the temps would be at around 200 for both the coolant and oil,but in my new ecodiesel i was just cruising around town and on the freeway it got worse coolant was at 219 and oil teml was at 231 but it was 102 outside in texas ,and I'm not even pedal to the metal,I drive like I actually want the truck to last for a while.....cause I do want it to last a whilebut yeah I'm not sure if these temps are too good,I'm planning on just putting on a cold case aluminum radiator and wait for the market to make an oil cooler
Diesel cooling options and ideas
Before you throw yourself into that world. Read your manual to learn how to avoid de-rating etc. The truck wont let you overheat it . If it needs to take a break it will de-rate by keeping you around 45mph until you cool it down. Some think it's dark magic that triggers this, others think it's a computer. Everybody would rather the engine tear itself apart than derate when it is hot. The really crappy part is that there is no notification that this happens besides your sudden inability to go above 45 mph.
Specifically in town at hot temps you should put the truck in park if you are at stoplights a lot with ac on when it's super hot and rev the idle to be higher rpm. if it gets really bad turn ac off for a bit. Not ideal I know...
Also if you do heavy off-roading I would be careful with the aluminum radiator, make sure it can flex etc. But basically there is no inline cooler available for the diesel yet. They are begging for one read all about it in that forum I linked. Really The truck de-rates when it's hot like every other truck. The gladiator has an airflow problem and was not built to tow heavy in worst conditions so be mindful of that.
Personally I would rather overheat my diesel with the factory radiator than a custom one installed when in warranty lol. to each their own I don't know what you use your truck for so I cannot judge.
If the truck isn't slowing itself down you are fine. IF it slowed itself down it's fine. There are tips in the Manual specifically for the diesel depending on your situation how to cool it down.
