Was talking to my son last week, asking how things were going and so on. His wife travels a lot for business - a school in Korea, books, and now software she's had created to teach Koreans about English and phonics. He said "she was out in California, Berkeley......" and named a couple of other big-name schools. I asked - huh? What's up with that? Book deals?
No, she went there as part of the process to get their son, my grandson (11, will be 12 this September) certified as a translator.
He is fluent in both English and Korean - reads and writes either and can switch back and forth at the drop of a hat. (he's also in advanced classes in school)
Could come in handy since we are so tightly entwined with South Korea economically and otherwise, and North Korea speaks the same language.

I have a feeling this is a future UN interpreter. MAYBE he'll be the one to bring the two Koreas together. He gets along with everyone and anyone.
