This is how I am building out my Crystal Granite '21 JTR.
I started with the stock JTR with Most of the goodies. It is an impressive vehicle, but it is still a Jeep so I have to start replacing everything I can.
I am starting with new rims and tires. I selected the Fuel Kicker 5 in a 17x9.0 size. I ordered the Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 tires. The dealership installed the more expensive Mickey Thompson MZT P3 tires. They are little noisy for my taste, but I do like the tire. So as for now, this is what I have:
RIMS: Fuel Kicker 5 Antracite
Tires: Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ P3
I also have removed the OEM rock rails and replaced them with the N-FAB Podium steps. I would have preferred to keep the OEM rails, but my wife could not climb in to it with the steps.
My next step will be to beef up the suspension. I will start with the Mopar 2 inch lift with Fox shocks. I bought this from the local dealer. They wanted to charge me $2100 in labor. They did not even offer to buy me dinner first. I said thanks but no thanks. I will do it my self. But I am not stopping there, I am adding icing to the cake. I have ordered the following items from Northridge 4x4:
* Teraflex Falcon Nexus EF 2.2 Fast Adjust Steering Stabilizer
* Steer Smarts Yeti XD Pro-Series Front Adjustable Track Bar
* Steer Smarts Yeti XD Track Bar Relocation Bracket
* EVO Manufacturing Front Overland Control Arm Drop Set
* EVO Manufacturing Rear Adjustable Track Bar
* Teraflex Rear Track Bar Axle Bracket Kit
As soon as the parts arrive, it will go up on the lift and parts will be installed. I will follow up and post the installation experiance as well as the before and after driving impressions.
I have also ordered a set of high powered 9" LED off road lights for the bumper. Along with those, I will be adding the Maximus 3 Classic Hoop for a JT which has also been ordered. Once all of these items are installed, I will start on the bed. My ultimate goal is to build it up as an overland vehicle. Then I want to go cross country on the Trans-America Trail.
