I want to install a couple amps. Is there places to ground inside the cab? Instructions state the ground shouldn't be more than 3 ft so assuming there's a place inside to ground.

You can just use any bolt local to the amps. May need to grind the paint off where your ring is seated to the tub. Believe the tub is aluminum so rust isn't an issue, but you could always seal if off after if you want.

Yep, use a wire wheel, flathead, etc. to scrape away the paint down to bare metal, and run a self tapping sheet metal screw into that spot.

If you use a self-tapping screw, you don’t need to remove any paint: it’ll ground through the screw.

Where in the cab are you installing your amps?

If you plan on installing your amps under the driver or front passenger, there is a ground stud near the center console.

Self tappers can work but they also have a habit of working themselves loose especially if you have multiple leads going in. On something like an alarm or remote start with low draw and one tiny lead sure, on amps I would absolutely use bolts.

I'm thinking I can ground to a seat bolt.

I agree except I've never had a self tapper work itself loose, unless it was over-torqued. Just making a general statement since a lot of people don't realize that the body is grounded.

Also, grounding to aluminum works but not ideal. Safer to ground to a factory ground stud.

I agree, and my mistake, I wasn't aware that the tub was aluminum. I would not ground to aluminum.
