So... anyone whos spent time around me knows I'd rather old school, I like a MBR with wood furniture, my jeeps with 7" H4 lamps and nothing stops hydraulics.

So... this may come as a shock.

One of my vendors just cranked out a line of LED replacement bulbs with some impressive quoted performance and a very attractive price. Then they offered it to me at an even more attractive price and I'm a sucker for a deal.

Color me impressed. Like really impressed.

Now important things to remember:
1. my headlamp units are a now sadly discontinued Hella Super H4 7" with a european lens cut and according to Hella the most perfect reflector and lens combination, ever, from anyone. Marketing puff perhaps but the optics with any bulbs are far superior to any H4 setup I've ever had and I've had many.

2. I have amber lens films in place so the light color is a tad off, they are 6000K and the amber film makes the light a wee greenish. This is not the reality, just a flaw in my setup. I need to order some clear film to get the correct light but since my lenses are discontinued I refuse to run without the film for fear of etching or breakage. It's my fear, accept it.

3. the two target environments are very very different but the photos demonstrate the performance of the light source as focused through my lenses, your performance will be different. The forest set shows close range performance and the beach shows long range.

4. I'm not getting into a discussion of whos product it is and the brand fight that can occur. If you want to know more let me know on the side. I'm not making a cut and it's not to steer you to my amazon store, more interested in a straight data based discussion. Side note, my light meter took a dump and until a new one comes in I can't validate the lumens and so won't even quote them here just yet.

Once the light meter is resolved, I'll set up the reflex markers at specific distances and harvest some real range/lux data.

Bonus time.

As discussed before, my ungodly auxiliary lamps. Well I have 6 now and they know no law but themselves.

Hilariously wide beam. If you can't see it with these on, time to stop driving.
