My gladiator has 78k miles on it now. I stopped 2 weeks ago and filled up and it would not start back up. I finally held the pedal to the floor and it started it died a couple times before I could keep it running. It has done the same thing the past 2 fill ups. The last time I only put 5 gallon in it, and it still does the same thing.
Please help.
Thank you

I haven't had it happen on my Gladiator yet, but on other vehicles I've had it was a bad EVAP purge valve that caused that.

Same gas station? Probably shitty gas. If there is water in the gas it goes to the bottom of the tank and gets picked up first right after a fill-up.

Has it happened anywhere other than the gas station? If not id be looking at fuel lines for a drip. It sounds like it’s not getting the fuel it needs until the pump primes it again. Meaning the system is not staying pressurized when you go to fill it up. Maybe someone else can get more techy with what I’m trying to say.

I’m going to replace the purge valve. I just ordered one. Should have it by the weekend.
I’ve bought gas at multiple locations.. I don’t think that is the problem. Since the fuel pump is in the tank and I can’t see any leaks, I don’t think it is a prime issue. It is possible the fuel pump is going bad. I don’t think it would only occur during fueling though.
hopefully the purge valve is the problem. Thank you all for the advice

I doubt it's the fuel pump. You're correct in thinking if it was it wouldn't just occur on fill ups. Not starting after getting gas is the #1 symptom of a faulty purge valve.

That sounds a lot like a failing EVAP purge valve. A common symptom is hard starting or stalling right after filling up with gas because excess fuel vapor gets pulled into the intake.
If it's running fine the rest of the time and only acts up after a fill up, that's where I'd start looking. Scan it for codes if you can, but don't be surprised if it doesn't throw one right away. Several people have had similar symptoms and found the purge valve was the culprit.
