Like many, I was taking the hard top off and broke the close-out cover for the rear defrost cable. I ordered part number 68422264AD and received them relatively quickly. Problem is it’s a different part number and doesn’t seem to fit. I contacted Mopar and they said that 68422264AE is the replacement for for the D cover.
It seems the clip (the one that I broke) isn’t in the correct spot. Has anyone ran into the same issue or used the “replacement” part?

Is yours a 2020? I had a 2020 and upgraded when I took my 2021 top off for the first time I noticed the cover being different… I think it is so that you remember to unplug the wiring harness to get to the one bolt… just my thought, it doesn’t fit yours then?

It looks the same but looks longer on the section doesn’t really doesn’t matter, it actually would give you a place to hold onto it better than the original design.

I agree about the design, it seems that the lower clip is off or in the wrong place.

Musta swapped some time during the 2021 builds I noticed it covered the one bolt which threw me off, figured it was so you had to take it off to get that bolt out and might remember to unplug the harness

Yup my May 2021 has the new one! I can also confirm that my JTR I originally had was built June 2020 and it had the smaller one.

Man this is great, I haven’t taken the new top off so finding this little treat was a nice surprise. I just tried to pop it off and it came off super easy with just a flick of the index finder. The original was a complete pain to get off!

It actually covers the bolt? That will kind of suck since I have thumb screws and it may not work with it. One of my clips is broken and I was considering changing it just because. But, if it forces me to use the torx screw again, I’ll deal with the original being a little looser than it should be.

Has anyone come up with a way to remove the screws without having to remove any car seats that are in the way? I figure there’s gotta be someone with a kid/car seat that was tired of having to remove the car seat just to access the bolts and figured out a work around.

I have a screwdriver I can swap bits out out of, so I use that and the long torx bolt and can just reach the bolts. It's not ideal but it works.

I’m guess it’s. Long screw driver to reach the ones in back? What do you mean long torx bolt? Did you swap out bolts for different ones?

Yes, something like this in the picture and you'll be all set:

I just tested it and the regular T50 torx bit will work, so scratch that about the longer bit. When the bolt is loose enough, I fish it out with my index and middle fingers. Also sorry, I'm being confusing because I said bolt instead of bit in my last post. That's what I get for posting right after I wake up.

Lol all good on the word swap. I read it when I first woke up too… I probably would have figured it out as well. I can’t get my hand behind the headrest with a small screwdriver like that one!

Did you ever get answer to this?

Which won't fit

Not atm bc life got in the way but I was told there are no more “d” parts available. Only thing I could think of was replacing parts 17,18,&19 with the new “versions” so that the E part would fit. See diag on the page linked below.
