spoke to my local dealer today, they have a note in the parts for the 68422264AD , it tells them that the base needs to be replaced if using an AE on a the earlier models

Like many, I was taking the hard top off and broke the close-out cover for the rear defrost cable. I ordered part number 68422264AD and received them relatively quickly. Problem is it’s a different part number and doesn’t seem to fit. I contacted Mopar and they said that 68422264AE is the replacement for for the D cover.
It seems the clip (the one that I broke) isn’t in the correct spot. Has anyone ran into the same issue or used the “replacement” part?

The D part is discontinued. They automatically send you the E part, but there is also a new base that needs to be installed (subsequent piece). Problem with that is that you have to remove 3 fasteners that most have never before seen. Dealer says it requires special MOPAR tool?
