Unless you got an uneven ass driveway like mine and it seems like no matter where I stop the truck rolls out from under the ball 😂
90% of the time, even on level ground, I set the parking brake before I get out to hitch up. It seems to keep the rolling out of alignment to a minimum and I want all the safety I can get when I am between to heavy objects that are not yet solidly connected. Doing it all the time on level ground makes me more likely to do it all the time on an uneven campsite in the backcountry.

I ordered another driver side buckle assembly, took the original loose, put a plug in it then pushed under the seat. Easy to put back to normal.

Retired. Finally !!
Don't get me started on the Nanny crap they put in cars today. You have to add more nanny stuff when you have shift by wire instead of an actual mechanism going from the shifter to the transmission. More crap to fail, more issues when it does, more costly, and YOU get to pay for it. Advertise the highest tow rating, then make it impossble to back up with the door open so you can see what you are doing. Shove a camera back there, that can, and will fail, followed by more crap that can, and will fail, and YOU get to pay for it all. But at least you have a jumbo tron on your dash while they tell you to keep your eyes on the road. My Gladiator fails, and I am going back to a base regular cab, long bed work truck. My gladiator has air bags on the side now. WTF for? The doors come off. Get off my lawn
You sound like my Dad when I was a kid...

"New cars are crap !!", so he'd buy a 10 year old car. 10 years later, he'd buy another 10 year old car. "Um, but Dad, you said 10 years ago that new cars are crap, THIS is that car !! Now it's NOT crap ?"

"Shaddup, kid. Oh, watch your damn mouth.".

Reliability, and efficiency with the drivetrains are leaps ahead of the anything when I was younger. I remeber a time when a vehicle was clapped out at 100k. But then they started adding all of this nanny crap, and electronics. I find most vehicles now are easily capable of 200k+, but the moment the electronics start failing, it becomes to costly to fix.
I do like the fact that power windows and locks are standard on most vehicles as is A/C. I do not need a jumbotron on my dash as I watching the moron in front of me, not the jumbotron. Then when I do look at it, I have to find what I am looking for. Just put a simple display with a clock, and the radio station.

I do not think new cars are crap. I think the useless tech, and nanny crap is crap. I do not need my jeep to aleart me to pedestrians in my way. I hear their screams as I drive over them. 🤣
