It's amazing how we all grow up with different driving techniques. My factory knob is deteriorating from sweat and use. I’d like to replace it with a heated knob. Anyone have a lead on such a luxury item?
Where do you have your left hand when driving?
I was a Road and Track magazine [Dad had a Jaguar XKE] fanatic as a kid and once I read that the proper way to race a car with a manual was to keep your hands at ten and two on the wheel and just drop the right [or left if driving in Japan, England, Australia etc] for the second or two it takes to shift.
So that's how I drive, though with my Jeep I'll be the first to admit to keeping it on the shifter as it's almost always a quick 1,2,3 shift.
Other than that, it's ten and two on the wheel. Because of my left arm issues I have a spinner at the ten position---which I love for a quick lock to lock turn.
So for me the heated shifter makes no sense at all---just move the right hand off the heated steering wheel for the couple of seconds it takes to shift.
