How do you choose the dealer for your order?

Apologies if this has been covered, search didn’t get me what I was looking for.

If you are buying off the lot you can usually email a few dealers in the area and pit them against each other to see who will cut a deal. It gives you something to compare. Can that same thing be done with an order or do you need to choose a dealer first to place the order and hope for the best?

It seems like I’d need to run through an actual build with a salesman and hope incentives at the time of delivery are favorable. Am I wrong on this?

I am in the DFW area and don’t know which of the FCA franchisees are more consumer friendly.

In California we can get 4% below invoice on a custom order. I have seen as much as 8% below invoice in the Midwest and on the East Coast.

Double checked the affiliate program before signing up for Tread Lightly. Surprised to find my company on there. We run GMs in our fleet but it turns out we supply FCA.

Definitely check if your company is an Affiliate.

You can shop an order just like you shop in-stock units. Most dealers will try to move available inventory or try to locate one, but insist you want to order if that's what you're after.

Look for below invoice pricing. Don't be afraid to travel to get it. And remain patient through the process as you cross shop.

Thanks for the tip on SL Valley Jeep. I live in Texas but I am from SLC... still have addresses I could technically use if there are regional restrictions on discounts right now. I’ll check them out.
