Hello All. I have a '22 JT Rubicon with the factory Fox suspension. I am looking to build a better setup and need some advice. First and foremost, I bought 37-inch tires on 17-inch rims and am looking to lift around 3.5 inches maybe 4. Should I buy a lift kit with new fox suspension (IE Metal Cloak, Teraflex) or will the stock fox suspension be able to handle it. Is there anything else I should know? Open to all advice and comments

The stock rubicon suspension with 37s will rub on Sharp turns and will regularly rub against your fender liners without needing much of an excuse.

There is a proper way to do 37s, and a cheap way. The lowest threshold for the proper way is a 2.5” lift in the back and a 1.5” lift in the front on a Rubicon. Your lift kit needs to include 4 shocks and 4 springs… shock extenders are not the best choice. You should also strongly consider proper aftermarket track bars and control arms with a lift…. and investing in any necessary steering/ front end upgrades you may like to handle the difference in the ride with 37s, like a steering stabilizer. Then get your pinion and caster angles professionally measured and adjusted after the lift is installed. Finally, make sure your wheel spacing is correct for the tire/ wheel combo you have.

You may also want to look into a re-gear if you have true to size 37s.

Awesome thank you. I was thinking of getting the metal cloak lift with aftermarket fox as I heard metal cloack was good. I will for sure regear it and Then resell the old suspension. Should I get mid arm, long arm or short arm suspension. I was going to run nitto 37's with blackarmory rims. Is it advisable to get a lift kit with with the componets ou just mentioned and call it a day.

I have the Metalcloak Gamechanger 3.5" on my JT. It rides like a dream and has great articulation. I used spacers for the factory Fox shocks but feel they are too soft. Since shopping for shocks MC has released their new Rocksport Black shocks and I intend to run them soon.

Nice. I was thinking of the dual rate so I can go easier on my wallet. and still get 3.5s. Should I just get suspension spacers for a 3.5 inch lift or just ditch the factory suspension and get the dual rates with fox?

From what I’ve researched, I’m a jeep newbie, you’ll want new front/ rear driveshafts. Longer brake lines as well. Those were the main reason I went with 2.5” from Clayton. She sure to send pics of your progress!

You can start with the Dual Rate and upgrade to Gamechanger anytime you want to. You can also run the spacers on the shocks and upgrade later too. This will lessen the blow to your wallet and let you get a feel for what shocks you want to run. I have the Fox 2.0 shocks on my JLUR and feel they are too harsh.

MC recommends new front shaft which I purchased. Kit comes with brake lines. You can "get by" with your factory front shaft for a bit if you don't max flex it. I am still running factory rear shaft but with a swing bearing spacer from Rock Jock.
