For 8 months, I've had this sitting in my office drawer. DC USB Converter Today, I took the time to finally install it
.
The goal was to run my dash cam, dash charger, and my wireless Android auto adapter without the cigarette lighter and USB cables in the way or visible. I knew that given I had aux switches, there would be a harness underneath the glove box to wire into, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn there is also a wire in that bundle for ignition power!
With a small rod, I was able to easily fish the wires through between the firewall and the dash/center console. This is so much better than having a cigarette lighter power adapter with two usb cables plugged into it as it continued to get in the way.
So far, it works perfectly powering the magnetic charger and the dash cam. Have a USB Y cable on the way to plug the wireless android auto adapter into. Hopefully it lasts! So far so good. Sure wish we could configure the USB ports inside the center console to power on with the ignition without having to rewire anything at the fusebox.
