I'm looking to either hide or flush mount a USB outlet on my dash.
I've identified the ignition powered cable in the Aux Switch button that I want to use but they don't include a negative in the bundle as far as I see.
Is it as simple as finding a nut on the frame to use a nut adapter to or is there something a little safer I can use?

Thanks, sorry if this is dumb or redundant, I've done this plenty of times with a negative, just didn't want to get all the way down to the cigar lighter outlet below the ignition.
I tried to do as much searching around as I could before posting.
Thanks.

I know you talked about not using the 12v outlet............ but I installed the MOPAR trailer brake controller, which meant I needed to remove my 12v outlet/lighter.
I bought a harness on Amazon that is an extension with a tap for 12v and ground.
I used it to allow me to move the 12v outlet somewhere else and the plus side is that it has a nice fused power and ground tap made into it. So I used the 12+ part of that to power my snow plow hand-held controller - ground part is still unused.

I'm sure there's other spots just made for grounds under there, though - someone will pop in with one.

Thanks, that's very logical.
Maybe it's not the end of the world getting to the 12V outlet.

When I wired up my light bar to the aux switches I used one of the nuts attached to the frame right by the wiring bundle. Mine already had a ground from the factory attached to it so I just slipped mine under the nut on top of it. No issues.

Yea I figure that’s a lot more socially acceptable in the engine bay than the interior. lol

Agreed, although the vintage/antique millennium falcon look with wires and switches everywhere would be pretty cool hah!

Well my dash has been apart for two days so far, I've been getting distracted by doing all sorts of mods on my wife's Subaru Forester Wilderness (mudflaps, floor mats, acrylic cool stripes near the hood) and this morning I organized the shed so I could actually get to my wire strippers and wago connectors.
I tested the USB C/A outlet before mounting and SUCCESS magsafe works.
I assembled the RAM arm to make sure I ordered the right parts.
I chickened out before drilling into my dash, it was getting dark.
My buddy has the right size hole saw so I want to get a nice clean hole unlike my rear seat USB outlets I was 1/4" shy and I mangled it with a razor blade, at least the nice screw covers hide the sloppy work.

As long as the whole cutting works out I hope to be done tomorrow.
Also had to wait to do this project till after I picked up a sweet softopper cap and rack from a guy I met once before, gave me a good deal.

Couldn't fit the hole saw to mount the USB outlet on here, I kinda wanted the cable slack to go into the opening any way.
The Ram mount base helps hide everything.
I pulled a USB C for a Baufang radio and a lightning cable for an iPad Mini but now I'm remembering they're USB C as well.. Maybe I can get a converter to not open it back up again lol.
Came together in the end.
