Weird idea but what do you guys thinking about something like this to sit the spare and using a Y rachet strap to secure it to the extender?

I think he means that the tire would be standing up, not angled or flat(so the tailgate can be closed). This is actually a jam good idea! That is, if you choose to leave your tailgate down to showcase the spare beauty. You also might need to figure out what to do when you want to haul material that need the extender and where to put the spare while you haul.
Ah, good point! Thanks for the clarification!I think he means that the tire would be standing up, not angled or flat(so the tailgate can be closed).
can u share some pics? Just got my 38” tires and will be getting a MetalCloak 3.5” short arm lift kit installed.Even though I have a bed rack setup for long trips I just throw the spare in the bed and use two ratchet straps in an x pattern with the stock tie downs for day trips or tippy trails
No reason to overthink it, and you still have use for your bed on non-wheeling days
I don’t have my JT anymore, but I’ll dig through my picscan u share some pics? Just got my 38” tires and will be getting a MetalCloak 3.5” short arm lift kit installed.
Am aware that the spare carrier can fit a 37” max and prefer driving with a spare at all times.
Already got a bottle jack so I am good with that. Just need to figure out a way to make sure my spare stays in place![]()
