Bed mounted tire carrier?

Looking at options to mount a tire rack/drill into the bed to mount one, like one of the angled rear facing ones you see on baja trucks.

I saw wilco offroad [https://www.wilcooffroad.com/shop/bed-mount-tire-carrier/] has one but wanted to know if you guys have experienced anything of that nature before or know where I can find the thickness/schematics of the truck bed so i dont accidentally drill into something

a guy from 4wheelparts sent me a link to a vertical standing tire mount that would be above and parallel to the rear tire on the axle below, looked very awkward and asymmetrical in pictures. hoping thats not the only option

Honestly, unless you are running a 35/37 tire that wont fit under the bed, I would leave it as is. If you want to mount it to the bed take a look at these two options from N-Fab.

I think the angled Baja look would be cool but I probably won't bother unless the tire doesn't fit underneath.

It’s already been proven/shown that a 37 will fit the spare well albeit with the tire deflated.

A Baja rack is cool if you need to slam out a tire change right now but it’s gonna eat a lot of what little bed space you already have.

The old cj7’s and 8’s had a swing out tire carrier and a gold down gate, I’d love to see that make a comeback

You know, just more modern. I loved it and wish I had a fold down gate on my JK for a reasonable amount of money.

But back to you, this looks like something g you could adapt and keep the whole magilla as low as possible for rear vision.
