We have already installed the baseplate package. Does anyone have any experience of installing a Blue Ox lighting system for towing a Gladiator behind an RV. The Blue Ox part number is BX8848 and it is a 4 Diode Wiring Kit. We are looking for a good place to interface to the factory wiring. Thanks.

Hi, I installed this Blue Ox tow setup. I ran the 4 wire through the engine compartment (for extra durability I ran the 4 wire through black plastic cable cover) being careful to stay clear of things and double tie wrapped. Once routed down through engine compartment I ran through the drivers side main frame rail. It’s all a little fiddle but if you’ve pulled wires before you’ll be fine. I think I came out of the frame rail behind rear axle then I just tried to safely route up into drivers side tail light. Then following their diagram you cut into factory wires adding the diodes. One tip is make sure whatever you do for electrical connections you coat with dielectric grease because the taillight assembly sees water and dirt. This setup works great...I’ve towed my Gladiator quite a bit with excellent results. One other tip; so you don’t drain your battery, I’d suggest buying a 12V outlet (cigarette lighter style) and installing it on the panel by drivers left knee and run the wires to your trailer loom. Look at wiring diagram of Motorhome to see which pin is 12V aux power and run your outlet to that pin (route through engine bay to black plastic plug going through the firewall to to right of the brake booster... I drilled a hole in the plug, ran the wire thru then silicone sealed). When you’re set up like this the Motorhome operates your toad lights and powers the blue ox braking system. Good luck it’s easy but you will be under the truck a while. Have fun and Jeep on!

If you have not ordered yet consider this JL Tow Harness Kit .
I have installed this on 2 Gladiators. By far the best setup I have ever used.
