Yeah, on the Centreforce clutch - my 2023 Manual got the recall and when I picked it up from the dealership the dolts didn't set the play right so it had to go right back in for another day.

How much all in for the Centreforce? - sure sounds tasty I'm guessin about 3K?

Now I'm thinkin 4K...

As a 58 year old, manual all the way. :)
That’s a good thing…. I hope you can continue to use manual as you age. 😉

I don’t have any major problems yet (knock on wood) but I‘m beginning to have issues with my right hip & right side sciatic nerve……

If not for the clutch issues Jeep can’t fix I’d say manual but auto gets the win here. Plus I like the remote start in hot/cold days. Haha
Won't fix, it would cost them a redesign. Center Force clutch and regear to a proper ratio. It's been a proper vehicle since that was done. Jeep wants to replace junk with junk for their recall.

It's really the clutch, but there's compounding issues. If my memory is correct, prior to the recall, Jeep released a computer flash that was supposed to nerf the manual vehicles to keep them out of the operating range that they thought caused high heat situations. Then came the clutch recall. So if I were to get into a manual I would swap out the clutch (myself, with an aftermarket unit such as centerforce, etc.), and make sure that the flash was reversed (if it happened).

After doing those things you'd have a reliable manual that should operate within the bounds that it is advertised to operate in (in terms of towing, etc.).

I don't have failure rate data or anything though I bet it could be found on NHTSA (maybe).
I have tried to get the unwanted, never requested flash reversed. Service just says they can't. Anything I ever do software updates on can be taken back to previous version. Dealers don't want the liability. Flash was done without my knowledge or permission.

I've read for 3 years about how the flash is "horrible" and "handcippaing'. I've never noticed it. Is it a problem in theory or has it been documented to reduce output? Any one have a dyno chart before and after flash?

The TSB's and literature lead me to believe that it modifys nothing unless the computer captures a large amount of revolution difference between the engine and transmission. To the best of my knowledge my pickup has never cut power or reduced output. I think I'd have noticed as i drive a bit more spirited than your average bear but maybe not?
The flash is set up to remove power when the clutch slips. As I don't do burnouts and abuse mine in that manner, the only time I should need that is when I'm stuck and need to use the advantages of slipping a clutch. That option of self recovery is now limited.

The regear and the Clutch were the best things for 37s and the terrain here. Pretty sad I had to pay that price just to get it to feel like a normal clutch only better. The stock clutch I just couldn’t tell when it was engaged or not

You know the one thing I love about a MT … Is trying to gauge how much roll you need to sort of land in a parking spot or roll up to a stoplight… Just put her in neutral and let her glide… Like if I can see a red light in the distance. I’ll just pop it right out of fourth Without even using the clutch and then glide to a stop. My daughter hates it when I come up to a light and let the truck rock back a little bit ha ha ha ha ha ha.

also, I love to practice my shifting all the time trying to get better and better - lastly for us manual guys it’s cool to pop the gear into second when you’re coming down from highway speed and keep the clutch in and you’ll get a little ding that notifies you not to let it out ha ha ha

It’s Kelvin here. I’ve been thinking about whether manual is better than the 8-speed auto. I love the thrill of shifting gears myself, especially when I tackled those rocky trails last summer—it made the whole experience so much more engaging! On the flip side, I’ve driven the 8-speed and it’s super smooth for long hauls. What do you all prefer?
I had a 2022 JTR MT and traded it for a 2024 JTR AT when Jeep kept refusing to fix that clutch. The 2024 JTR is my first AT 4X4 and I'm quite happy with it to my surprise.
