Is off roading too easy nowadays?

But most trails are just dirt roads and if you're out cutting your own trail/ driving off trail you're an asshole. The rubicon trail is a county road.

For the blissfully unaware, please be DEEPLY thankful for ALL folks who fight behind the scenes for YOUR Trail access throughout the USA. Re. the Rubicon Trail, lots of technical driving - everyone should do it at lest once in their lifetime, especially if you have a Rubicon namesake Wrangler or Gladiator... There was a time when build/warranty it yourself Jeeps were the ONLY capable ones out there - there were NO factory warrantied built-up Jeeps out there.

Technically yes a 22 mile County Road partially/minimally maintained to meet environmental mandates, but much is/was not. Not so bad if you take all obstacle bypasses but then why are you even there? Of course plenty of mechanical carnage opportunities for choosing the wrong line(s) at the wrong times...

Was refreshing self on the decades-long Rubicon Trail access issues - a push and pull tug of war between offroad use proponents and environmental proponents. Have been out of the trail politics directly for many years (what a relief!). Years participating in County Planning and Land Use, as well as State/Public Land Use issues is really an UGLY but important place to be, to maintain/fight for trail assess. Brings back memories of immense headaches.
