Thank you so much. Doing it this week!It took a few days but here goes... There is one deviation that I did from the instructions and that was the size of the bolts used to tie the bar to the rollbar. I should have went with 1/4-20 so that's what the directions here will say.
Materials needed:
Assembly:
- 1" Square tubing (preferably aluminum) (HD or Tractor Supply?)
- 1/4-20 Riv-Nut (x2) (Amazon)
- 1/4-20 x3" Hex bolt (x2) (Tractor Supply)
- 1/4" rubber washers (x2) (Tractor Supply)
- 1/4" metal washer (x2) (Tractor Supply)
- 1/4-20 star knob (x2) (Tractor Supply)
- 1/4-20 x2.5" bolt with nut (x8) (Tractor Supply)
- 1" square end cap (x2) (Tractor Supply?)
- Koplin Rhino grip-single-21500 (x2) (Amazon)
I'm not saying you could swing off of this thing, but it is very sturdy and a complete no-drill type install which beats the pants off of anything on the market today.
- The tubing will need to be cut to 52.25" long
- Drill holes exactly 1" (on center) from each end of the tube for the rivnuts. Obviously, only drill through one side of the tube.
- Install rivnuts
- Paint to desired color and let cure
- Install end caps into tubing
- Install the Rhino grips (with the 2.5" bolts) so that they hang in the same orientation as the rivnuts. You may need to drill the holes in the grips as they are a snug fit. Leave grips loose for later adjustment.
- To prevent scratching or marring of the paint, you might want to put some electrical tape beside the rivnuts to prevent scratching of the rollbar.
- Install the bar assembly above the rollbar. Start by sliding from the rear of the cab, forward and above the rollbar. The rivnuts should fall/slip into the enlarged holes on the top of the rollbar. This is a tight clearance from the roof so you might get a little rub. The pic below is shown without the star knobs.
- Assemble the 3" bolts with the star knobs, washer, and rubber washer so that it makes contact with the rollbar.
- Insert the bolt assembly into the rollbar and thread into the rivnuts above. Do not over tighten. If done correctly, you shouldn't be able to move the bar and the assembly should handle the roughest of roads.
