Didn't they literally just put a bed on the back of a wrangler? Aesthetically, anyway, I know the frame is different.

So since the Wrangler copied off an old jeep, so did the gladiator. But also, do did the defender

But your right. It does look a lot like an old defender truck. I think it's because both copied the same source.

You should see what the Koreans did with the left-over Jeep parts decades ago. Heck, they had a great supply of parts, sheet metal, stuff to copy from.
I've got pics somewhere.
I believe Korea still puts out a licensed version of the old Gladiator.

i can see it, the fenders sticking out like they do and very square cab, totally agree. and no, not every pickup has low bed sides. actually i think most do not have low sides like the gladiator. but this is why i think it would be pretty cool to do a white hard top and wood bed rails on my hydro blue gladiator
