Hopefully this is in the right place, please move if not.
From a previous post on checking speedometer with your phone and if the phone syncs with the Jeep speedometer, I decided to do a bit of my own testing for iPhone vs. Android and if the phones sync with Jeep Speedo. Cliff notes: iPhone plugged in does, Android plugged in does not. Figured I'd make a separate post for visibility.
"For those with Jeep Gladiators that have changed tire sizes or may just want to check speedometer, here is a quick video on the two major phone brands(iPhone and Android) and how to test. Waze was used on both to measure speed via plugged in using Android Auto or Carplay and also not plugged in or connected with blue tooth.
If using an iPhone, you need to have the iPhone unplugged from the Jeep and blue tooth turned off. If you have it connected via either method the speedometer will sync and the iPhone will report what the vehicle speedometer reports. Without it plugged in to Jeep or on Blue tooth it will give a true GPS reading.
Android, both plugged in or not plugged in and blue tooth turned off Waze reported correct GPS speed.
Note: These are just my findings after seeing a few threads come up on this, use at your own discretion. Ideally and to be 100% sure when checking speedometer via iPhone or Android, you would want to not be plugged in or on blue tooth just to be sure GPS speed on phone is correct. Or possibly have a family member or friend use their phone to check speed while in passenger seat with phone not connected. Hope this helps, thanks!"
I'll be uploading a different video for this as not happy with this one. Will test iPhone 15 Pro, Samsung S24, and Google Pixel 8 Pro.
