So I went with the J Scan over Tazer

Which I had to purchase this adapter cord to plug it the OBD reader.

My question is do I plug and unplug this everything I have to use it?
Or just leave this Big’O bundle plugged in at all times?

I also use Jscan, I installed the Z automotive SGW extension cable. It make s it super easy to hook up your Jscan, I leave mine unplugged.

So I have both and leave the Tazer plugged in for some of the live features. Unplug it when I need to use the JScan for something, as I like the interface better.
I also bought the SGW Extension cables, makes life so much easier. Northridge has them.

This?

So one end of this plugs into the Jeep, the other end is not suppose to be plugged into anything right?

Where would I connect the JScan OBD reader?
The factory OBD port?

Yes that is the cable. One end of the cable plugs into that hard area under the dash the other end of the cable plugs into the OEM cables the ones you disconnect from the female receptacle under the dash. It then hangs down low enough where your not fighting to get your hands up there. With the extension cable installed, you can unplug and then hook up your cable with the OBD reader, do your Jscan stuff, when your done hook up the OEM SGW cables back up to the hanging part of the extension cord.

Here is a great video from one of our forum members @tysongladiator
Okay thanks
I think I got this figured out lol

I never had a vehicle that needed all this extended cables and what not to change settings.

I came from the VW world
Where all I had to do was plug in my Obd reader into the OBD 2 port and that was it.

The extension cables are like an extension cord - so you don't have to reach behind the couch to plug things in. It changes nothing, really, but to make it EASIER to plug in the bypass cable.
You remove the bypass cable and plug the Jeeps wires back into the extension cables hanging down from the security gateway instead of having to reach clear up to the SGW.

I remove the bypass cable because with the extensions it's so easy to do, and a little bit more secure (a little bit)

General advice regarding Bluetooth OBD adapters: disconnect when not in use for better security.

However . . .

As delivered from the factory, the vehicle's network is protected by two layers of protection: 1) the SGW (security gateway module) which prevents anyone from just plugging into the OBD II port to access features (like remote start, or door unlock), and 2) physical access to the OBD - if you lock your doors!

To use JSCAN, the SGW (security gateway module) is bypassed. so JSCAN can access and update data in the various computers and modules. For JSCAN to work, the SGW must be bypassed, hence the cable. Similarly, Zautomotive's Tazer bypasses the SGW.

The risks we take with leaving the OBD adapter in is that it can be paired with other devices even when the vehicle is off. Some devices, like vLinker MC+, have a pairing button, requiring physical access to the adapter to initially establish a connection. Therefore, presumably the vLinker is 'more secure' than a generic ELM327 device. Also, the vLinker has a power-saving timeout, so it goes into a low power mode after the vehicle has been off for a bit.

I personally have both a Tazer Lite and vLinker MC+ with JSCAN. (Interestingly, I found I could have both devices on the Jeep simultaneously. I plan to trail test this combination soon.) Because I already had the Tazer, the SGW was already bypassed, so adding the vLinker did not require any additional bypass cables.

Personally, I think I will be disconnecting the vLinker when not using it for 'Trail mode', but I am not very worried if I leave it in because 1) the OBD adapter will time out and go into low-power mode', and 2) I don't have power door locks, so break in still requires breaking something.
