What color was the plastidip on the OEM wheels, and is that plastidip on the new wheels? It’s not paint, it’s Avery satin red vinyl
It was just the regular red plastidip spray you can get at Walmart or Lowe’s. I only used dip temporarily since I already had the stock wheels sold to a friend. The new wheels are powder coatedWhat color was the plastidip on the OEM wheels, and is that plastidip on the new wheels?
This is awesome. Can I ask where you got your vinyl from? I'm wanting this in the blue for jurassic world.Hello everyone! I know some of you have seen pics of my truck in a few spots but figured I’d assemble a build thread to document everything do anyone who’s curious.
To start, my name is Matt and my JT is a Gobi Rubicon, ordered September 18th 2019, delivered October 17th 2019. saddle leather, base soft top (waiting for a premium tan option from someone in the future) 8.4 uconnect, spray in bed liner, steel bumper, trail cam, cold weather group, safety group, and LED lighting group.
I had a 2011 JKU Sahara that was JP11 (sold recently) and wanted to do my JT with the same theme. I’ll post some photos of the thus far and continue to update this thread as I move forward with future mods
If you want to follow my Instagram page, my handle is @Grabberbluemach. It’s not all about my JT, I’ve got a couple of builds going on but you’re welcome to follow along!
Phase 1 was getting the graphics laid out. I chose to plastidip the stock wheels until I got my new wheels and lift installed. Stripes are satin red vinyl.
Phase 2 was getting my wheels, having them powder coated, and having my Mopar 2” lift installed with my 37x12.5r17 K02 all terrains. Wheels I went with are Fifteen52 turbomac HDs. Beautiful quality wheel.
Phase 3 is still in the works. Waiting on some parts to make it to production that were delayed due to Covid, but it’s coming! Mods have been kind of quiet during quarantine other than the addition of a tan spiderwebshade. Great quality piece. Install was pretty easy, just needed to drop the windshield down to get the front clips in place.
the vinyl came from a local vinyl shop. There’s many types and colors so I went with what I thought matched best. In my case, Avery satin red. If you’re unsure on a specific color I suggest going to MetroRestyling online and just buying some sample colors. I think it’s like a dollar per sample or something. Then you’d know for sure what you want without spending a tonThis is awesome. Can I ask where you got your vinyl from? I'm wanting this in the blue for jurassic world.
Hey i was gonna ask when ever you took the wheels to powder coat did they took off the original color cause im curious since i myself love those wheels and i want to take the color off the wheels so that i can have that machined finish on those wheels cause well.....i like that look :D
Yes they sand blasted the original finish off and recoated mine. If you like the machined look (I do too, I think it looks great) then have them blasted and clear coated. But if it’s a cast wheel it will not have those look. These are billet machined wheels to begin withHey i was gonna ask when ever you took the wheels to powder coat did they took off the original color cause im curious since i myself love those wheels and i want to take the color off the wheels so that i can have that machined finish on those wheels cause well.....i like that look :D
No cut patterns, they laid the lines out with 3M knifeless tape. Pretty straight forward. I’m actually going to redo my stripes soon. The rear one is too narrow and my door logo is a little too small. I think there’s vector art of the door logo floating around on the internet. Also, if you look up the Jurassic park motorpool workshop I believe they have vector art for the hood decal and numbers as well. But again, the stripes you’ll just have to eye ball. And you may have to scale the hood and numbers appropriately since the YJs are a lot smaller. Hope this helpsI also have a Gobi Jeep and want to do this! Best part is my wife is OK with it. Do you have the cut files/ pattern that you used to have the vinyl cut? if so I'd be super appreciative! I know this is over a year later, but worth a try. Thanks!

Nope, windshield is just a regular wrap job, no need for cutting patternsThis is super helpful, Thank you!
I just didn't know if you had pattern for around the windshield, but this makes sense!
Thanks again!
