So I am getting ready to pick up my 2021 JTRD Factory Order, and am planning to go ahead and purchase a lift kit and shocks.
I have already purchased Method 702's and Toyo 37x12.50 RT's.
Use: Daily Driving, Hunting/Shooting, towing jetski/light boat potentially, camping, dirt roads/light trails and rocks.
Am not planning on doing any hardcore rock crawling, but truck will see some offroad use and I'm more of a cry once buy once type of person (within use case), and I want the truck to be capable.
After quite of bit of reading on the forum, I am looking at the Clayton 2.5 Overland Plus. I would rather not mess with the drive shafts, and my understanding is I should be able to utilize the stock drive shafts with a max 2.5 lift.
My questions is centered around Shocks and the Clayton lift on the diesel.
1.) Clayton has told me that there is not a diesel specific kit. Has anyone running this on the diesel had any issues with the kit on the diesel. I would like it level should I run a spacer, if so what size, or should I be looking at taller springs.
2.) Shocks:
I was originally looking at the Performance 2.0 for ~$700. However, are these not just longer versions of the exact same shock that comes on the Rubicon from the factory?
If so, I feel that money would be better spent on an upgraded set of shocks. If agreed, are the Performance 2.0 remote reservoirs appreciably better or do you really need to step up to the 2.5's?
What about Accutune? I have heard good things, and it would seem a custom valved shock could be better, but I haven't seen anyone run these on a JTRD or with the Clayton kit.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and for any info/advice you can provide.
