When buying our bumpers, we often receive inquiries about the compatibility of specific brands of winches. In addition to considering the dimensions of the winch plate, we also need to check if the winch's control box can be detached.

2. Control Box / Solenoid Box
We know that winches typically have a control box, which acts as a relay to manage the high current needed to power the winch motor. Let's take a look at two images below: the control box of the Warn winch is non-detachable, while the control box in the other image is mounted with a bracket and can be removed.

Some bumpers are only compatible with winches that have a detachable control box, so you need to make it clear before purchasing.

I've been shopping for a bumper. These aren't necessarily things that are or aren't mentioned by the seller, they are just things I look at.

1. Will the winch mount low to not block airflow to the radiator. This is especially important with the diesel.

2. Does it have fog light spots? Will it accept factory lights or do I have to get aftermarket? And if it does accept factory lights, which JT models will be a direct bolt in.

3. Are the hook points bolted straight to the truck frame or are they welded onto the bumper? If they are welded, how are they welded? To the bumper face? Through the bumper?

4. Does it work with factory skid plate?
