Someone else put these words in your mouth? This is the world according to you. This is also why I discard the idea that we should allow people to choose old junk tech, like metal keys. Choice is often bad. We already waste billions of dollars just in this country to allow people to cling to their old ways. We would be so far more advanced if we stopped coddling them and forced advancement. Evolve or die.

Me: Happy for you to have the freedom to choose a chip in your hand all the way up to everything in your life monitored and run via alexa with whoever big brother is watching over your shoulder. Also happy you get the choice to rfid proximity push button start on your old tech solid front axle off jeep truck as well as host of technological goodies. Where's my option for my base trim sport manual with a radio? Where's my key or small appropriate fob to suit the trimline i ordered. What is a solid front axle jeep offroad truck doing with half the tech that's in it? Jeep Grand Cherokee...have at'er.
You: We should not allow people to choose old junk tech, like metal keys. Evolve or Die.
That's a dictatorship sir, borg collective right there. What's good for me must be good for you.
Can't believe you chose to drive something with a solid front axle, a jeep period, doesn't suit you, tesla truck has your name written all over it.
You don't see the fault in your logic eh? We could go on and on about old tech vs new tech and there's plenty of arguments for either, some good and bad either way. You have more of it right vs wrong when it shouldn't be that at all. Solutions from simple to complex is more like it. Nothing wrong with simple solutions. Nothing wrong with wanting a simpler more basic connection/starting method to a base model solid front axle 4x4, a key with a button to unlock the door is perfectly acceptable and suited solution.
Everyone on either side of the camp agree that regardless, the fob is 100% too big for any of the trim models. So at least it could be appropriately sized for modern day tech, being about as personable a carry item for many as a watch, a little more care and attention should have gone into that.
Ima warp 9 out this bitch. Number 1...engage.
No, I don't. I can also state reasons why a solid axle has a role in today's vehicles. You have no idea how a "real" key would work in today's vehicles. I've already tried to explain it, you can't get it.Everyone on either side of the camp agree that regardless, the fob is 100% too big for any of the trim models.
Coming from you that surprises me. A big part of "tech" has always been about fitting more of it in a smaller package. To all who are fine with the fob, I say "good for you." But it's also good to know I'm not the only one who thought "WTF?" the first time they stuck this uncomfortable, oversized, ill-conceived cube in their pants pocket. No, I don't.
My "WTF" was shock at how small it is, expecting to see a huge brick after reading all the histrionic complaints. Which keep coming.I did think "WTF" for sure.
To be honest, I didn't know it is waterproof, but don't see that as a challenge in a smaller size. Maybe even to the contrary. The range here is no better than was the smaller fob on my Ram truck, at least not for unlocking it -- the Ram's range for remote start was pretty damn good, but I'm not able to compare that either.I did think "WTF" for sure. That's different from agreeing with a tirade about it being a problem. After considering that it's waterproof and has huge range (two reasons for it being bigger), now I have no idea what to think. I'm an adult, when I learn new info that I don't fully understand, I simply say "I don't know." The person most offended by the size didn't even know about the waterproofing, and may not about the range since he doesn't have remote start.
So I'm neither saying it's NOT too big, nor that it is, because I don't know.
For that, you're welcome. My "WTF" was shock at how small it is, expecting to see a huge brick after reading all the histrionic complaints. Which keep coming.
It's amusing at least.
I should have said "locking the door." Being old with the short term memory that comes with that, I often find myself wondering if I had remembered to lock the door from the other end of a parking lot. Then I spend the next few moments jabbing at the lock button until the horn assures me that it's now locked.Remote start range is at least doubled over my Wranglers. I've never tested the unlock range, that doesn't seem useful in any way (being far and unlocking). Either way, as Martin said, I don't really care. It doesn't create a problem.
I do appreciate that, not that I've ever had one break.Another thing that creates size is ruggedness. It think you could drive over this fob.
Same here, but the BMW spends a lot less time in rugged terrain, LOL. Unlike old keys that always wear out, I've never had to replace a fob.I do appreciate that, not that I've ever had one break.
Heh, well, I may or may not have done that once or twice. (Yesterday) What I've found to help me is to retrain myself to use only the door button. That seemed to become my mental routine more easily, if I have to turn and touch the door every time. It has also helped with things like "oh yeah, I see my mask on the dash which I need."Being old with the short term memory that comes with that
