Hi! I am new to this forum but have been active on Jeep forums since 2003, and this vehicle is my 7th Jeep - the previous were all Wranglers.

I would like to get some insight from members using L-Track as a bed rail system.

I have been deciding between L-Track vs Trail Rail/Unistrut options. I just bought the Tyger T1 Soft Roll-Up Tonneau, and I have learned the included clamps will deform the plastic covers on top of bed walls when used with out a MOPAR-style trail rail system.

Is it difficult to adapt the L-Track to accept clamps for a tonneau, or has anyone done just that?

I'm leaning toward the L-Track and I was thinking that maybe I could use the standard Tie-Down Rings for it as fastening points for the tonneau clamps, but I'm not sure how the logistics of the hardware between the tonneau and the L-Track will mesh. I know in the future I'll have my metalworking friend make some clamping points for me if that's what will make the tonneau compatible with the track.

I expect for the short time I’ll have the tonneau on with clamps there will minor, if any, deformation of the plastic, anyway.

Thanks a lot if anyone can help.

I run the Mac’s Tie Downs Gladiator Kit in mine, which is what’s commonly called L Track or Versa Track. I have been able to make most accessaries designed for the Trail Rail System work with the L Track.

There are lots of item designed for L Track that I’ve used to make things work and the L Track Threaded Stud is the one that I’ve used the most. You should be able to make your Tonneau work with L Track using some of the L Track accessory options.

I’ll post some links to the accessories that I’ve used to adapt items to work with the L Track.

The link to the Mac’s Gladiator Kit is not working, so here is the link to the same kit sold by AAL

Here are links to the L Track accessories that I have used to adapt items to work with the L Track. There are 2 types of stud bolts and I prefer the ones in the first link:

There are many more accessories for the L Track. You just have to find what works for your situation.

Tennessee Gobi,

Thanks for that information! I'm familiar with all of the L-Track accessories, and you have confirmed what I suspected, i.e., I'll have to engineer whatever fasteners suits the situation best, and I'm sure I'll use a combination of parts you linked to along with some creative adapters.

Go Vols? :)
