I need to get a pallet of pellets (try saying that 5 times fast) for our pellet stoves. I’ve seen photos of others carrying that load in their Gladiators. So I know it’s capable, but is it hard on the “truck?” Thanks for your insight. I have a fairly stock 2023 Rubicon.

How much weight?

I do not think a standard pallet will fit.
If the weight is low enough. I think your best bet is to load by hand and distribute across the entire bed.

I used to do pallets of salt in my f350. That was 2500lbs. No way I would ever consider that weight for a gladiator.

Thanks for the reply. Standard pallet dimension is 48”x40”. 50 bags of pellets weighing 40 lbs. each so 2000#. It’ll fit, but concerned about the weight. May need to get a trailer.

Max payload of a Rubicon is around 1000#, depending on equipment. 2000# in the bed is a no-go, unless you're going across the street.

Don't forget to deduct all passenger weights....frig's etc that may be carried in the back seat. Hell, if the suspension was upgraded or skid plates have been added, gotta take those away as well.

OP, essentially, anything added to the vehicle from when it was sitting on the dealer lot.

If it's a relatively short distance Id say it is what it is. Give yourself plenty of stopping distance and don't be the one keeping up with traffic.

can you? - yes
Should you? - no

even with air bags 2,000lbs is just too much (IMO). If you have access to a trailer id go that route to be safe. That being said I routinely tow my TT with my wife / 2 kids / 2 dogs and my total payload is around 1450lbs. (My JT is rated for 1550) The truck sits level and drives fine...I could imaging adding another 550lbs would at some point impact the driving experience but it would be feasible.

A pallet of pellets is too much for the glad. That said, I've worked out a deal with my supplier who lets me do two runs and his yard crew hand loads the truck for me. They just set my pallet down out of the way in between trips. It does mean two trips on the same day, but I get the ton price and they are close enough that fuel cost is marginal. Truck does drive great with a 1000 pound in the back and it all fits under the backflip hard cover. After the first load in the fall I stop by every couple weeks as needed and get a dozen bags to keep the supply up.
