There are several threads on the lack of seat covers that fit the 8 way power seats in the Rubicon X and Mojave X. As I transitioned from a 2022 Rubicon to a 2024 Rubicon X, I retained my seat covers and just modified them myself, otherwise they would be going in the trash. I suspect this would work for many of the same design that come from Amazon / China as they all look like they are from the same factory under different branding. I my case, I had CreekT leather covers which have done well enough for 6 months on my 2022 they were worth pulling off and giving this a try. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CZ6Y1DDM
Here's the write up and then pictures in the next post.
- The driver's side seat bottom obviously has a giant hole for the manual lumbar adjustment on manual seats. I had the epiphany to just swap the drivers side and passengar side seat bottom as this would put the hole from the drivers side on the inside of the passenger seat and wouldn't be visible.
- Then fully installed the seat bottoms and sinched them tight.
- Then marked the center of the two control levers with a sharpie
- Then removed the seat covers to work on them
- The control levers are 1 1/2 inches long and 3/4 inches wide
- Cut out slots for the control levers at 1 1/4 inches long and 5/8 inches wide
- The cutouts being slightly smaller than the levers themselves would allow the leather to recess behind the control levers
- Then installed the seat bottoms again and sinched them tight
- Then worked the cut outs behind the control levers using the plastic tool that came with the seat covers (this resulted in the seats moving a lot during the process but expected)
- Didn't try to do a cut out for the electronic lumbar support. Its too recessed and would have looked ugly. Also it works fine under the cover and still relatively usable.
I'm pretty pleased with the result. The seat covers fit as well as they did on the manual seats (never perfect) and the control levers are fully functional.
