Another comment, I think for some of us who dreamed of a Jeep all their lives, we have images of what we want to do and how it should look. Then we find out there is even more stuff, some purpose built some just looks cool and go crazy. Even though I go off road I’m guilty with the mods. Some creature comforts, some for the trail, and some things just for the look. My Harleys got me mod crazy for many years and then I add this to the scene, lol

For some, it’s all about the customization factor. Lots of options to make it their own. They may never take it off the pavement but it’s an open canvass they can personalize to fit their taste and express themselves.
For others, it’s all about the off road capability and modding it to make it the most capable it can be.
Either way, it’s the most modifiable vehicle on the planet, a true One Size Fits All (with a few mods) that can be as varied as the people that buy them. With a few turns of the wrench it can be the perfect vehicle to almost anyone that buys it regardless of what their style is.

For me, it’s a daily driver 95% of the time. As someone else stated, off road parks or trails are pretty far away. I work a weird rotating schedule where I’m off Friday thru Sunday every other weekend. If I lived in Colorado or an area of the country where trails were more accessible, I’d be wheeling at least one day every other weekend, but I don't so any chance to go off-roading involves a 2-3 hour drive or a weekend getaway with a trip each direction before and after the off-road part. This is my third Jeep (and have had several Harley’s) but I’m not big on the extreme changes that aren’t really necessary. Part of the reason I opted for the Rubicon trim on this one is the fact that less upgrades would be needed to fit my needs (daily driver that I can go play in when I get the chance - including praying for snow!). Looked at a SportS w/MaxTow but decided I would need a bigger (more expensive) lift for my 35’s to fit, lockers, sliders and so forth to have it where I’d be comfortable wheeling it that far from home. By buying the rubicon, all I really needed to do was bolt on the bumper and winch from my JK that I kept and add a spacer lift to keep from stuffing the 35’s disconnected (and make up for the weight of said bumper/winch). The rest has been semi-cosmetic ... lights, cb & ham radio, antennas, decals, hammock for the dogs ... Maybe if I was wheeling a lot I’d be doing a lot more mods.
Just remember, for some, that big wheeling trip is coming up soon so it HAS been a winter of mod after mod getting it ready so they can enjoy it all summer long without garage time. Kinda like we always did with the Harley’s. Can’t really ride in the snow so most mods were done in the garage over the winter so as not to cut into riding season with down time for mods. Lol

but my garage is too small for my wood shop tools AND the jeep, so she's been sitting outside most of the winter. ALSO, my manufacturer of choice for rock rails and canopy are taking their sweet time, so no wrenching even when it does hit 30 degrees. =(

next winter i'm sure i'll be modding a bunch. =)
