I didnt realize (in their infinite wisdom) Jeep welded the limiting strap hook to the body so replacing the hook with a longer post wont work...I have a puppy on the way and would really like to get the back doors to open just shy of the front and back door hitting when opened. Has anyone found a solution to get this to work. I know you can take the latch off and shove into the door cavity but would like another solution...Anyone???

TIA

Quick question... Did you disconnect the black door stop from the frame to gain the additional opening space?
Yes. Unbolted and pushed into the door. I also just screwed the removed screws back into the door frame so that I don’t lose them. If I decide I want to go back, I’ll just pull the arm back out of the door and bolt it back up.

Thats what I thought...I heard it can be a pain to get out of the door and some use a zip tie to use as a way to get it out.

I didn’t remove the bracket that mates to the door frame from the arm. So it just sits flush to the door, with the arm in its pocket. I can just grab it with a pair of pliers to pull the arm back out.

Literally, just unbolt the bracket from the door frame and then just push the whole thing “into” the door.

All done, thanks for the assist...I did wind up putting a zip tie through the bolt hole just to make it a bit easier to grab, pretty simple...My Husky will be delighted with the extra opening space

Why would you want to pull it back out?

They do serve a purpose. They help hold the doors when they're open so they don't just flap around at-will. Especially useful when parked on a grade. I could see where you'd want to re-attach those at some point.

I've gone with those disconnected after taking the doors off before just to make it easier, and never liked it. I always re-attach them now. I don't blame anyone who doesn't care about them being on there, but also can't blame someone for making it easier to re-attach later.

Yep. jKs and previous didn't have them. And it's a pain to get the doors to stay open and in place when on a hill or with even mild wind on those

Agree, they certainly serve a purpose...I would love to see someone come out with an adjustable one or a longer one. The wider opening for me is important so I will deal with the flapping door
