Hey all,

In case you were wondering about the tailgate table I sent from Mountain Hatch I have a quick pros and cons review to give on it.

Pros (or what I feel are pros):
It's flat.
Has a few cutouts for cups and maybe screws so they don't roll off the tailgate.
It's thick.
It's food safe.
It looks better than stock.

Cons:
It's heavy.
It warps in sun/heat (to the point I can't close the tailgate). This is a deal breaker for me.
It scratches easily.
There's a gap under it.
It doesn't screw down on the bottom half of the tailgate (which probably would help with the warping).
The hardware it comes with is silver button head screws which don't lie flat or level with the board. (I bought new hardware that sits below the top of the board, should've bought black though).
It gets hot in the sun. (maybe even hotter than the spray in bed liner that I have in it).

As for the owner of Mountain Hatch; he seems like a good guy. He was always responsive to my messages and concerns. He and his wife offer discounts for military and even teachers. And as a teacher, I appreciate that. We don't get appreciation discounts much.

That's about it for my pros and cons review as of now. Hope it helps guide your purchase and how you spend your hard earned cash.

Ultimately, as it stands, I probably wouldn't buy again unless the issues were worked out by Mountain Hatch.

Thanks.

I'm going to make one out of white starboard. Been using it on boats in direct sun for years and never had a lick of warping.

Nice, I hope we get to see the finished product and maybe even a build thread.

I bought a Hooke Offroad panel off eBay for $100. Pretty much the exact same thing. So far it’s worked fine.

I do not have a clear picture of it. You can barely see it under the fridge and power pack there.

Not sure how it will handle extreme heat, but I’ll find out Tuesday. Going out with some friends and it’s supposed to be 105 or hotter.

Looks like a good option. Did it come with that hardware? Did you have to install a nutsert in the tailgate?

Yes it came with all the hardware. You basically remove seven or eight of the existing bolts, holding the tailgate panel on, lay this piece on top of that panel, and then replace the existing OEM bolts with the new ones they send you.

I did not install any nuts or anything. Worked out really well.
