Need Advice For Bed Tent for 2020 Gladiator

Greetings! I'm still very new to the Jeep community, and still trying to figure things out. I'm looking at doing some solo camping as part of my Jeep adventures so I'm looking at options for a Truck Bed Tent. As I started looking at options all over the web, I'm wondering if I measure my bed size with tailgate down or just the inside. i.e. 60" is just the inside, but it's 81 at the edge of the tailgate. Should I trust the inexpensive stuff on Amazoom, or spend the extra $$$ for something else? Is there anything of decent quality that's not going to cost me 2 weeks salary? Any help would e appreciated. Thanks!

I used this Rightline for awhile before I got a rack and rooftop tent. It worked out well. Stayed dry in several storms. Was reasonably priced too. Napier makes a decent tent too.

Also, one thing to note is I'm 5'10" and my feet would rub the door if I was elevated on a cot, so that's something to consider. Kodiak has a nice canvas tent. You just need a tent sized for Midsize truck.

One other thing it worked with my bed cover too, at the time, I had the Bak Revolver X4s. Which you can see in the pic.

I take a ratchet and torx bit and have the MOPAR tonneau cover out in 2 or 3 minutes (it's laying on my car hauler tool box in photo) and that allows easier tent use, IMO.

I have the Napier full size short bed tent and it works well. Check their clearance area for possible deals. I scored an “imperfect” one years ago for $25.

Oh, hey. Does anyone use a pop up sun shade or anything in combination with these? Right after I placed my order I realized that if it's drizzling and I open the tent, there'd be nothing to keep that rain out. Thoughts?

I picked up the Napier and camped in plenty of storms, the lil awning on it does a good job of directing rain away from the door.

Hardest part is finding an air matters that doesn't turn you into a human chalupa with the wheel humps.
