Folks, I need some advice/guidance here. I recently had the following mods done (from a stock Overland automatic): Mopar 2 inch lift, adjustable track bar, and falcon adjustable steering stabilizer, followed by 37x12.5x17 Milestar Patagonia’s with KMC wheels. I’ve driven it about 800 miles and it drives like absolute shit. It wanders all over the place on the highway. The power loss is way more than expected as is the loss of MPG. Now, I did a lot of research on here (maybe not enough) and certainly knew I would lose power along with 7th and 8th gear and I knew I would take a hit on MPG and was fine with taking a small hit. However, my MPG for the last 800 highway miles was 14 and was previously 22. For me, that’s too much. I am not ready to drop a few grand on a re-gear. And don’t get me wrong, I fricken love the look of the truck now, but driving it isn’t even enjoyable.

So, I’m debating dropping to 35’s, but I’m wondering whether that will even help. I bought the tires from Amazon and I suppose it’s possible to just return them (as opposed to reselling). Honestly, most of my driving is on-road and the lift and tire/wheel upgrade was mostly for looks for now with the anticipation of off-roading in the future. If dropping to 35’s will help, should I buy the lightest mud tire I can find? Does the weight matter the most in this scenario?

Any help you guys can provide is much appreciated as well as recommendations for specific tires for others like me who have encountered a similar dilemma. Lastly, given the number of threads on here, I’m sure this specific topic has been discussed and if, instead of writing me a response, you include a link to another thread, that’s fine too. Thanks in advance!

You already know the reasons and answers - they're in your post.

You need to regear to regain your transmission, performance and MPGs. Did you buy/install a Tazer to adjust your speedo and odo? Speaking of MPGs, you can't calculate them without the Tazer (or similar) as you won't know how many miles you've driven.

Nice ride! You didn't mention speedo recal or alignment, did you do it? I average about 15 mpg with 3.5 rc lift, same tires, control arm brackets, upper decker, and tent. I did recal and align. I was averaging 18 mpg pre above mentioned. I noticed some power loss and rarely touch 8th gear. But not as bad as u mention. Im in a sport s max tow, at sea level.

Thanks, guys. I should have mentioned the recalibration. Yes, I have the Tazer mini and am pretty sure I entered in all of the info correctly. I entered in the tire size from the Internet, but maybe I need to do a real measurement and see if it’s different. I also had the truck aligned to meet the specs of the lift. I thought the stabilizer would help a little with the wander, but it seems worse than stock.
