Just wanted to jump on and say hi. I just added a 2021 Sport S Max Tow to my garage last Tuesday.
I have a 2006 Hummer H3 and I have been looking for an Alpha H3T for a couple of years now and people are just insane with pricing on the H3Ts. I can't see spending over 30k for an over 10 year out of production vehicle. I gave upon finding one a few months ago. Anyway I work for a power company and my side gig is automotive/motorcycle and vehicle infotainment and modifications. I do a lot of Jeep and motorcycle work. My buddies have been giving me grief about working on jeeps but not having one to show off a build with. I figured last week since my H3 is getting on up there in age I would go pick up a 2018 Sahara that just showed up at the local dealer with 8900 miles. Well I got there and it was under contract. I left but looked at the Gladiators on the way out. I got home and started looking at them online. I optioned out a sport like I wanted and found one in Louisiana 55 miles away. I contacted the dealership and it was transferred to another dealer. I couldn't find one like I wanted in the Southeast US at all. Well at 6:55pm I got a call from the local dealer telling me they couldn't get financing for the Sahara and it was available if I wanted it. I drove back over to the closed dealership and looked at the Sahara but I noticed a white sport s on the lot that wasn't there earlier. I walked over and looked at it and it was the sport I found online with the other dealers sticker in it. I went back to the dealer in the morning and asked if it was available or ordered for someone and they said someone wanted it did a dealer transfer on it but ended up going with a Rubicon instead. I just said OK TAKE MY MONEY!!!
So I love my H3 and will never part with it but I have enjoyed the last few days driving the Gladiator. They are very similar in a lot of ways but one thing for sure is that the Gladiator is really quick!!! My youngest daughter has had more seat time in it than me since Wed. She went on a 5 day vacation with it. I got to be there for 2 of those days and I hauled around 5 people with ease and still had plenty of get up and go with a 19 mpg combined fuel consumption. That's doing paper and pencil math. My H3 is on 35s and tuned properly at best I get 15.5 with a tailwind and that's downhill. It will get 17 hwy but it won't get out of its on way. I have had several mustangs, a corvette, and still have a 350z. The H3 is the slowest thing I have ever owned. I had a PT Cruiser for a short while that was faster LOL!!!
I keep Halo LED head with switch back turn signals and driving lights on hand to install for people. Hadn't changed any out on a JL or JT yet and didn't know there was a change done. I had to modify the driving lights to get them to fit just expanding the holes a little. I ordered a few adapter brackets for the headlights. I got a case of 5 pair in yesterday and did the headlight install. Had to add a few washers to space the headlights properly in the grill and I changed the stock DRLs to LED. Pretty straight forward install and was able to tap the drl turn signals in the fenders. Huge difference over the Halogen lights.
Looking at Tonnue covers, Running boards, 35s or 37s for tires and wheels and trying to decide on how high of a lift I want to go with. Going to Change out all exterior lights to LED so just pulled the trigger on a Tazer Mini with all the upcoming mods and its worth every penny to get rid of the auto stop and auto park features alone.
I'll be lurking around to see what you all like and dislike. I will post a how to here and there if I see need for it.
