Noise when downshifting

I seem to be getting a clunk in up shifts - MT from 1-2,2-3 after installing my Rusty’s 2” lift (that yielded 3”). Gonna re (re) torque everything, check for driveline play, etc and maybe mount a go pro and drive if I can’t figure it out.

Following as well I have the same issue 2021 overland high altitude took it into my Jeep dealership and was told it’s normal to hear that clunk sound but it’s very annoying and it’s doing it even more now and when I come to a stop. I have a leaking rear axle which is getting replaced next week been on back order since August 10th :/ I’m sorta hoping it will fix this clunk but probably not lol keep us updated plz

It seems better but still has a bit of a clunk. Guessing it was compounding issues and something was a bit loose (wasn’t obvious). The pinion angle is good and everything is tight. Guessing it’s driveline slop.

mines fixed now I literally took mine to the shop 3 times and they kept telling me it’s normal so I just gave up. I had the mopar lift and fox steering stabilizer and 35’s put on this week and BOOM noise completely gone. So I have no ideal what it was but I’m so glad it’s gone

About 3 months ago, I purchased a used 2022 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon (10k miles) with a 2 inch Mopar lift and 34 inch tires installed by dealer. About a month a go I started having the exact issues mentioned here:

"I sometimes get a clunking noise and abrupt downshift when slowing to a stop. It also occurs when I'm slowly cruising through a parking lot and I let off the gas and it decides to upshift into third when I'm really not moving fast enough."

"I have had the clunk noise when slowing down to a stop and almost slight increased rev prior to the noise occurring .. Does not happen consistently"

I took it in for service, and dealership and they couldn't replicated the sound. they also said that the transmission was low on oil and added a quarter, that only helped with the big clunk noise when going from P to R or D.

About the other noises, they said that's normal and its a "jeep" thing.

Is it normal? I hear it more often and it's getting louder, so I like to know if anyone has solved the mystery.

Normal in many vehicles depending on the slowing to a stop circumstances. Mine does this when I apply the brakes just right and going down a hill and it drops down a gear or two. The engine must rev a bit to keep up with the downshift. That's normal.

Thanks for the quick response. That I know is normal, the issue I'm having is the "clunk" sound it intermittently makes when downshifting. Sometimes is a soft sound, and sometimes it's pretty loud. I can't determine a pattern when it does it. It's pretty random.
