Shopping for a winch. I have the rugged ridge arcus bumper. Looked at badlands and found openroad winch on amazon for a really good price. Does anyone have the openroad 12k winch and is is any good? The badlands winch seems popular. Just trying to get the best bang for buck winch.

Just get the apex 12k. Mine has been great. I haven’t personally run the open road, but I haven’t heard much positive feedback

Badlands 12k here too. Wait for it to go on sale with the synthetic. Haven’t heard good or bad on Open Road outside of sponsored people. Grain of salt and all that.

Yeah, I paid $499 for mine, but it’s still a good value at $599. Comparatively speaking.

I have the open road winch. I had a problem with the remote not stopping and ruining my synthetic cable. I reached out to them they sent me new remotes and a new controller as well as new winch rope quickly. All about customer service to me. I have used it several times. Once to pull myself out. Several times pulling others out.

I have the open road winch as well. 2 quirks: it occasionally lets tension out when its not in use but maybe thats an electrical problem with my gladiator or the way i hooked it up? Second issue is the control box on top had to be replaced (great customer service) because the solenoid jammed. I've heard this issue happening with other winches too especially when freezing water gets into there.

I love my winch, I had a jam with the remote as well. The button stuck. Tore up my winch rope, open road replaced my rope as well as a new set of remotes and control box. Great customer service. I have used it several times. Once to winch myself out of a mud hole and pulled a couple folks that were seriously stuck.
