Paint marker after drilling holes?

Have any of you ever used a paint marker to paint holes you’ve drilled? I don’t know why I’ve never thought of this. I’ve used paint markers for things, but never after drilling holes. It seems like a quick and easy way to paint the holes without a mess to clean up. The main goal is just rust prevention. Example I saw today:

Because I have them around I use them on all kinds of things. On the jeep its usually used as touch up on aftermarket bumper or steps when I scratch/chip them. Find an industrial one like markal or something.
