Pine needles in between fenders and fender flares

Is there any tips or something to put in between fender flares and the front fenders to help keep pine needles out?

I use compressed air to blow them out but some of them get jammed in there. Last thing I want is them building up, collecting moisture and rubbing through the paint. Would a small bead of clear silicone work or is there something out there already?
