Just had this happen to me while coming home from camping with our travel trailer. Started with the rear locker icon flashing and eventually led to the "service locker system" message and now both are on. I've read all the posts and have the Tazer bypass cables coming early next week but my question is twofold:
First, is it safe to drive until the cables come in?
Second, it has yet to actually throw a DTC; is that normal?

Thanks all!

I cannot really answer your question, but, I can tell you what happened to mine. I never got the "service locker system" message, or if I did, it was only temporary. I changed to Dana Spicer 5:13 gears, and changed the gear oil again at 500 miles. At around 10K miles after the gear change ---

1. My rear locker started randomly flashing. It was temporary, and random.
2. I changed my rear gear oil immediately.
3. No rear locker flashing for a long time.
4. My rear locker started flashing again, maybe 10K or more miles later
5. I quickly changed my rear gear oil immediately and added the Tazer cable.
6. Now it's been about 20K miles and no locker flashing or any problems.

I do recommend you change your gear oil and keep it as clean as possible. I think it maybe possible that new clean gear oil can wash out the metal powder that has gone into the sensor, but, I am not sure... I have the impression that changing the gear oil helped tame the problem, but, I cannot be sure.

PS. The magnet on the gear oil drain plug had very little metal powder on it. A little more the first time vs. the second time. Nothing more than the stock 4:10 gears when I changed the gear oil.

PSS. I live in a hot climate and am hard on my truck, so, I am using Mopar 75w-140 synthetic , with NO additive, --- which is what the factory specifies for towing with the Gladiator. I am not sure if this thicker gear oil will help or not, but, this is what I did. It is also much cheaper.
