I saw your vehicles - reversed here - 2021 Grand Cherokee and 2020 JT Overland. I was wondering about the time-out on the ACC for the radio. I was using hit while unloading landscaping block and working in the yard and it shut off like you said.

That's what bluetooth speakers are for.
For those of YOU who want them.
WE want our radio to play longer.
Do what you want, though.

I've always used my auto stereo systems and will continue to do so. (also don't want to give up the rear storage area for a SPEAKER)

Whoa there cowboy, holster that thing.

And you don't need to use up any storage space for a blue tooth speaker.

Behind the right rear seat. And it's another thing to toss into the truck or track - we want to use our built-in stereos.
Bluetooth is also a pain in the ass, IMO. Wish someone would come up with a better system. Get into my truck and suddenly my phone wants to disconnect from hearing aids and connect to the truck, or if I have to switch phone off and on for any reason, you never know what it's not going to connect to - and the BT in the truck is unreliable.
Naw, I want my stereo to work. I've used to cranking music from my cars (and the Comanche I had) that would rattle windows. No BT speaker can even touch a REAL stereo system.

Back to the original POST - glad to find there's a way to force the radio to stay on longer. Make it a party truck.

(you are the second one today to seem to think people should be doing things differently.)

I have no idea what you're prattling on about behind the right rear seat and rattling windows.

I mean, I guess more power to you if you want to listen to just the music that happens to escape the cabin? Maybe it reminds you of 1953? If 40 minutes of 1953 reminiscing isn't enough, restart the cycle for another 40 minutes of glorious memories of yesteryear. It isn't a difficult task to carry out.

Get the sound out of the cabin.
The bluetooth speaker option for the JT. That's what sits behind the right rear seat or didn't you know that was an option or where it sits while charging?

The OP wanted to extend the radio play time. Got nothing to do with bluetooth speakers, but extending the play time of the radio.

You can do your bluetooth, we're wanting to extend radio play time. It's fine for us.

Do you have a problem with how others want to listen, what they want to listen to?
It's like it bothered you that that's how some people do things.

I'm serious, some of us want to extend the play time and you act like it's not to your standards.
Lol no no problem at all. It's just funny to hear people complain about why things don't work like 60 years ago and then get mad when people tell them there's significantly better ways to achieve the same thing.

Who moved my cheese?! Who turned off my car to make sure my battery doesn't drain by accident and I can drive off later?! Cute and amusing.

Except it's better for you but not everyone. No one's getting mad - it's just amazing that some seem to think that others should think and do the same as they do - maybe it's better for them but I don't want a BT speaker, I simply want to have the truck where I'm working, turn on the radio for a while. It's simple.
I was cleaning up a tree that fell into the yard from the woods today - tossed in chain saw, gas, bar oil, truck out to site, open door, turn on radio while I clean up the mess. Then use truck to move branches to my burn pile. No messing with another speaker, didn't even have my phone, and wasn't going to run to the house to get it. Just me, the truck, chain saw and the radio playing (what I could hear of it when the saw wasn't running)
If I was throwing a party - then I'd do something else but for me, it's just the sound, a radio, Doesn't have to sound like a high-end Bose or better, just a radio, and maybe for an hour.
Better for you, we just want the time extended for our way.
It's not the same thing and not as convenient to drag out a BT speaker, connect up a phone or whatever and start music. A lot easier to hit the accessory position on the switch, radio on, done.
Who was complaining? I don't see complaining at all, just an interesting way to extend the time-out. It's no big deal - except you see it as a an engineering issue to resolve with other equipment.

There ya go again "cute and amusing" - belittling.

You are far far far too sensitive. If you wanna have lower quality music with your windows down when better options exist that don't risk accidentally draining your battery, and don't I guess ruin your hearing aid connection? Then by all means crank on. Sorry you have to hit the button every 40 minutes. Bummer. And yes it is cute and amusing, nonetheless.

Why would I drag out a speaker and connect a phone - or even have my phone with me when cleaning up a fallen tree 300 yards from the house?
Not going to drain the batter with a couple of hours of music. I used to run stereo contests years ago and that meant 4 or 5 hours, engine off, stereo cranked, 500 watts of amps and big subs working.
Totally happy doing it this way. But it seems to bother you more than me.

Actually. The only person bothered here is you. All I did was say this is what Bluetooth speakers are for and you got all angsty emotionally triggered by it.

If anyone is bothered by anything it's you, by others suggesting there's other options. But you don't seem to want other options. But this thread isn't just for you, maybe another reader says oh hey yes, Bluetooth speakers!

But no. You have to go and get severely triggered at the mere mention of other options. And this is by no means the first thread where you get so overly triggered.

The telltale classic sign of somebody being bothered is projecting feelings and emotions onto other people.

Chill. Out.

Good info OP. Good to know.

As for the Bluetooth debacle, I prefer Bluetooth instead of burning the trucks power. ( Although it is miniscule).

Not that anyone cares, but;
I use Craftsman and Milwaukee BT speakers which are powered by the typical cordless tool batteries. I use them in my shop daily.
And when I get serious, I have a SoundBoks which will blow the doors off ANY vehicle audio system.

Different strokes for different folks.

I would also like to know other ways to stop the radio timeout.
I like to enjoy the local drive-in. Don't want the movie audio through a single speaker, even if my phone could receive FM signals. And don't want to be in neutral when parked on the mound that lifts the front of the truck.
