Radio turning off when Waze speaks

2021 JT gas. I've developed a little annoying problem and am curious if anyone else has had it or something similar. I have my iPhone connected to carplay running Waze and my radio tuned to an AM channel. When Waze breaks in to announce a direction change or police reported ahead etc. it turns off the radio. I need to then go into the media screen and select the channel to turn it back on. Any suggestions?

Try going into your settings in Waze > Voice & Sound > Play sound via Device default.
